The Master Potter
We are the workmanship of God. He takes a worthless lump of clay and by making His many applications upon it forms a beautiful new life. He opens our eyes and peels back the darkness from our hearts. He sets us ever so gently into the light that we may glean the warmth of Christ. He seals our souls with the Holy Spirit of life everlasting, and He shapes us into someone beautiful.
I went down to the potters house one day
And watched him with the vessels of clay
'Twas a wonderful lesson there I knew
As I watched all that poor clay went through.
Twisted and pinched, beaten and rolled,
Being fitted for the perfect mold.
How like me and you, I thought
When in His hands to perfection are brought.
We were but the dust under His feet
Nothing lovely, no nothing sweet.
Yet He picked us up and molded us afresh
On the potter's wheel of new-born flesh.
Now lo! Come see a delicate vase
Of wondrous beauty and exquisite grace
A vase once vile in the Potter's hand
But now a masterpiece, lovely and grand.
